July 8 marks 56 years that IHOP has been in business. In honor of that, participating IHOP's across the nation will offer a short stack of pancakes for just 56 cents.

The local IHOP in Bridgeport is participating and managers said they've had a good turnout so far. While this branch participates in National Pancake Day in March, it's the first time they've been involved in an anniversary celebration. "This is new to us. A lot of customers heard about it through the Internet or from promotions. I think toward the evening the crowd will pick up even more," said general manager George Lopez.

The deal goes on until 7 this evening.
