Initial plans to improve Morgantown neighborhood Sunnyside were presented on Friday night.
City and county officials met with local residents at Antonio's in Morgantown, to talk about multiple construction ideas. The non-profit organization Sunnyside Up, is coordinating the project.
They have $2.4 million to spend on improving the community's look and infrastructure. The items presented were part of a construction wish list. Everyone who attended was encouraged to provide their feedback.
"People who live in the neighborhood know what the problems are better than somebody who comes in from the outside to say, you should do this or that. They'll give us a number of ideas that will be very good and very workable, and we'll add them," said Sunnyside Up Executive Director, Frank Scafella.
The organization plans to hire a project engineer by October. Construction isn't scheduled to start until the summer of 2014.
