The WVU College Of Engineering and Mineral Resources hosted a public forum Thursday afternoon geared towards students and staff on innovation and entrepreneurship at the National Research Center For Coal And Energy.
Three speakers highlighted this event including Doctor Eric Beckman, Doctor Walter O'Brien and Doctor Kayvan Najarian. They covered the fields they work with including chemical engineering, mechanical and space engineering along with computer science and electrical engineering. The crowd heard their success stories in hopes that they could apply the same principles to their lives.
"Educate, encourage and inspire both faculty and students to think outside the box. They sit in a lab and they do research and they do great research. How can we impact the world? How can we go out there and say this is what we did in the lab and we're going to apply it to make the world a better place," Said Lindsay Emery, Business Development Manager at WVU.
The event was hosted by WVU's linking innovation, industry and commercialization at the Statler College.
