Saturday night in Clarksburg the Italian Heritage Festival held it's annual Spring Gala to introduce this year's Regina Maria, the Princesses, the Maids of Honor, and the rest of the Festival Court.

The 35th Regina Maria was introduced and crowned by last year's Regina Maria, Victoria Smith. Elleyse Gemondo, a junior at WVU, will take over the reigns as Queen of the Italian Heritage Festival and she couldn't be more honored.

"It's overwhelming. It's exciting. I'm just filled with many emotions right now. I'm ready to start my reign of course, but mainly I'm just really excited to get started," Elleyse Gemondo told 5 News.

The 2013 Gala also introduced the Junior Court. The Junior Court is a new part of the Italian Heritage Festival that brings 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students into the Festival Court. The 35th Italian Heritage Festival will be August 30th, 31st, and September 1st.
