The School Building Authority also approved funding for the needs project in Lewis County.
Jane Lew School will see improvements after the county was awarded over $1.3-million. The school currently consists of two buildings. The older part, which was built in the early to mid 1950s, will be torn down. Additions will be made to the other part of the school that was built in 1982.
"The atmosphere will be more pleasant and all these students will be together then. The old building is separate and all the students will be housed in the same area and not have to go outside for lunch and so forth," said Paul Derico, Lewis County Board of Education President.
The board will contribute $1-million from levy funds to the project.
