2014 is the year when one of the biggest elections in our state's history will occur. We have a lot of races to decide, and a lot of men and women have already pledged to run for those positions. But the government shutdown, the Obamacare scandal, and the dissatisfaction with our government in general, could make it a very tricky election season for candidates.
It's too soon to predict who is going to come out on top in next year's election, but there are some key issues that candidates need to pay attention to.
Republicans are going to try and keep problems with Obamacare front and center; the Democrats will focus on the shutdown. Both need to keep the economy in mind. If the economy is doing poorly next November, Republicans will have an advantage. Timing is also a factor, typically we see a shift in power every six years.
People around here said they hope people will keep the recent disasters in mind when they vote next year, but they know memories are short.
