WDTV 5 News has partnered with folks from "Thank The Monkey" to create a smart phone app that helps promote local businesses.
Friday the founders of the app hosted an official launch party.
"Thank The Monkey" can be downloaded for free on any Apple or Android powered phone. It lets you pull up coupons, website links, phone numbers, directions, and much more to local restaurants and businesses.
This app has been available for about a week now, and since then hundreds of people have taken advantage of the savings.
"We had a young man come by today (Friday) and he downloaded "Thank The Monkey" on his iPhone," Jim Matuga, co-founder of "Thank The Monkey", said. "He went to Tudors' Biscuit World and saved three dollars on a biscuit. That's a great opportunity and we have a lot of deals like that."
At the launch they had monkey themed cupcakes and free coffee.
