Lawmakers Review Meth Lab Cleanup Funding

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia lawmakers are taking another look at the state's reimbursements to property owners for cleaning up methamphetamine labs.

Under a 2007 law, the reimbursements are made through the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.

The Charleston Gazette reports that meth lab cleanup expenses are draining the fund. Reimbursements have increased from about $38,000 in 2008 to $717,000 in 2012.

House Speaker Tim Miley tells the newspaper that the issue needs to be addressed. He says there soon won't be any funds remaining for victims of other crimes.

Proposed solutions include reimbursing property owners through another agency, or stopping such payments.

Liberals have 1,001 ways to steal from NON lawbreaking taxpayers. How about the criminals paying for their own crimes for a change? It's called 'responsibility!' A word rarely used in the vocabulary of liberals. Take everything the criminal owns; you DO confiscate their drug monies....USE THAT!

I cant believe this is even an issue!!! I have an idea for you....garnish the wages of those responsible for the meth labs....safe to assume most of them dont work, so force them to work, its their mess, make them clean it up! I am confident that they have time to work, seeing that they are not in jail long, because I see the same faces on the Regional Jail reports over and over for multiple (often times related) offenses. There has to be a way to make these "scum" accountable for their actions rather than the proverbial slap on the wrist. Liberal America is like a malignant tumor and is killing our society. You want to win the war on drugs (mainly meth), make the punishment fit the crime and obviously, that is not the case.
