A Lewis County man is behind bars after officers apparently caught him operating three meth labs. Only one lab was active, but police said one is still too many.

Dave Smith was arrested early Wednesday afternoon for operating those labs and Sheriff Adam Gissy said Smith has been distributing meth for quite sometime now. Sheriff Gissy said he's happy that Smith is now behind bars.
"He's going to face a significant amount of time. I know the gentlemen had quite an extensive background of criminal history and we're going to pursue it to the fullest extent of the law. He's been somebody that we've been watching for sometime. We know for certain he's been operating labs quite frequently over the past couple of months. Today's arrest was significant," said Sheriff Gissy.
Sheriff Gissy said he hopes this is a message to all the other meth users in the area. He's continuing the search and hopes to make more arrests to keep the streets in Lewis County safe.
