Light-Up Night Takes Over Main Street in Bridgeport

Main Street in Bridgeport was closed for a few hours Thursday evening so folks could welcome in the holidays.

Their eighth annual Light-Up Night took place where the city's Christmas tree lights were turned on, followed by fireworks. The Associated Businesses of Bridgeport holds the event to allow those local businesses to thank the community for their support.

Dozens of employees were on hand giving away food and presents, and there was no lack of music and candy. Organizers say the event gets bigger every year.

"I'll tell you it's really a festive atmosphere, you can feel the energy all around you. Everybody's excited to kick off the Christmas season and that's really the main purpose of Light-Up Night in Bridgeport," said Mark Bonamico, president of the Associated Businesses of Bridgeport.

Santa and Mrs. Claus were even there to hear what the kids want to see under their trees this year.
