The Church of Christ at White Hall in Marion County is doing their part when it comes to helping the American Red Cross. From Monday until 7 in the evening, they're hosting a blood drive to help with the low number of blood donations that are associated with the summer months.

Their goal is get about 35 units. Senior Minister Kevin Lough said the church hosts a blood drive each year around this time.

"We've been receiving calls from the American Red Cross asking to donate, so we've been able to open our facility to try to meet that need," he said.

According to the American Red Cross's website, a national blood shortage is in sight. This means there's an urgent need of donations in the coming weeks.
