Staying safe is a main priority for everyone before storms. If you would have walked into any hardware or grocery store Friday morning you probably would have seen things like shovels and sidewalk salt front and center. And according to store owners once the snow hit, they were flying off the shelves.
The big sales items in Friday were shovels, windshield washer fluid, and de-icers. Owners said they have a lot of product because during this time of year they sell like crazy, especially right before a storm. One owner said when people hear snow is coming they never really know what expect and just want to be prepared for whatever comes their way.
"When people hear that there's going to be snow or bad weather we sell a lot of salt and calcium. We sell a lot of snow shovels. We sell a lot of window washer fluid for cars and stuff like that. It does pick up a little," said David Christafore, Owner of Sandy's Hardware.
5 News spoke with customers at Sandy's Hardware Store Friday to see what they thought about the storm.
"I hate the snow. I wish I lived in Florida. But I'm getting ready with my de-icer and my broom and I'm getting all prepared for it. I'm on the way to the grocery store and the drug store just in case," said Phyllis Anderson, Harrison County Resident.
