The Rotary Club of Bridgeport held their health awareness screening at Bridgeport Middle School this morning. Nurses came down from Pennsylvania to screen local residents. The purpose of the event is to provide low cost multiphase blood testing to the community to identify health issues that some people may have.
"We've had multiple people come by and tell us how the testing has identified health issues they weren't aware of," said club president Douglas Grant. "It probably saved their lives in some cases, so it's something we encourage everybody to come and do."
The screening is held in August and February of every year. It started 30 years ago when the Rotary Club of Bridgeport was looking for a project to help the community.
