Stonewall Resort is partnering with Make-A-Wish for a golf outing. This's the 11th year they've worked together to help make a wish come true for a child with a life-threatening medical condition.
This particular golf tournament helped Brandon, a 17-year-old from Randolph County. He's been diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor.
Golfers helped make his wish come true by participating. The tournament will be played in a four-person golf scramble format. Brandon and his family came to the event to show their thanks. His wish was to go to Legoland. They were able to go in June and they brought pictures with them of their adventure.
"It blew our minds how much stuff they had made out of Legos. I'd like to thank Make-A-Wish for making this happen for Brandon," said Velda Booth, Brandon's mother.
It was certainly a beautiful day to hit the green for a good cause.
"Everyone we have here at the tournament has participated through the last several years. It's a good day," said Leslea Gillum, the golf shop manager at Stonewall Resort.
Make-A-Wish officials said on average a wish costs about $3,900 to fulfill.
"Its really great to see the community get excited about a wish and see the community band together to realize the importance of a wish coming true," said Leandra Hickman, the regional manager for Make-A-Wish.
Brandon said he really enjoyed the trip. He said it was the perfect way to cap off summer before the start of his senior year.
