For the first time ever, Doddridge County residents who walked into the courthouse on Tuesday had to go through metal detectors at the security gate.
The county commission had been interested in getting security for the courthouse for some time. It will be there anytime the courthouse is open. Everyone will have to enter through the back doors. Their belongings will go on a table which will be monitored by the security guards and the people will walk through the metal detectors.
This decision was made since most counties in the state do have security and the amount of people going into the courthouse daily is increasing.
Again, security will be in place anytime the courthouse is open. You can still exit out of the front doors ...but the back door is the only entrance.
