The "Bee Sweet" in Clarksburg held a voting blitz Sunday evening for Miss Southern West Virginia's Outstanding Teen.
Krystian Leonard is trying to win Fourpoints Magazine's "Make Me a Cover Model" contest. There were thousands of applicants from all around the U-S who applied and Leonard is the only girl from our state to make it to the top 25. Leonard is the founder of her own non-profit organization called "Shining S.C.A.R.S." It's a support group for children with scars. She's even written a children's book on this issue. Leonard visits the Childrens Hospital in Morgantown as a part of her charity and knows how first-hand how it feels to be affected by having a scar.
Leonard said, "They all like to call me princess and I play with the kids and read my story to them. My scars make me beautiful. My scars, I tell a story with them, how much stronger I am than I was before. It make me unique and makes me feel like a great person."
Leonard's book "Shining Scars" is due in bookstores this June.
