A new Miss West Virginia has been crowned, and it's Southern West Virginia's Paige Madden.
The 70th Annual Miss West Virginia Scholarship Pageant was held at Fairmont State University. 20 contestants are competing in the talent, fitness, evening gown and interview categories.
Madden will move on to represent West Virginia in the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City come September. Organizers said the event makes a difference in the contestants' lives.
"This is a program that provides amazing educational opportunities for young women and scholarships and learning opportunities. It gives them a chance to better themselves by learning interviewing skills, time management skills, and to be able to see every year what difference it makes in every young woman's life," said Leah Summer, Executive Director of the Miss WV Scholarship Organization.
20 teenagers also competed for the Miss West Virginia's Outstanding Teen title. That winner will represent the state in Orlando in July.
