Commissioners in Monongalia County welcomed a new commissioner on Wednesday, and he got started with a bang.

Tom Bloom took his seat as a Mon County commissioner Wednesday morning.  One of the first thing he proposed was moving meeting times.
Bloom serves as guidance counselor at Morgantown High School, and apparently the superintendent won't let him have time off to attend the meetings.
He told 5 News he didn't think it was going to be a problem. He said other teachers at the school use a policy called flex-time to attend meetings.
Commissioners have agreed to move meeting to 3 PM on Wednesdays until they can figure out a solution.
"That's why we have the policy called flex-time," Bloom said. "It's been used by many school employees and board employees. That's why I didn't believe there would be a problem."
Another question Bloom will have to answer as a commissioner is what to do about Westover's attempt to annex the Morgantown Mall.
That's because during their meeting on Wednesday commissioners there approved a motion to ask lawyers whether or not they can reconsider their decision.
Commissioners voted to deny the city's attempt to claim the mall as part of their own last August.
At the time Bloom wasn't part of the commission. That's why he suggested revisiting that vote.
After a heated discussion commissioners approved that with a vote of 2 -1.
