The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office is investigating who's responsible for breaking into about 18 vehicles overnight and stealing items from inside.

This happened early Saturday morning in the Bethel Road area. Deputies said several residents noticed their vehicles had been broken into. When deputies and detectives searched the area for evidence, several items were found and will be submitted for examination.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Emily Pintus at (304) 291-7260.

The Sheriff's Office is also asking residents in all areas of Monongalia County to make sure they lock their vehicles when parked outside overnight.
