A fire that sparked Tuesday afternoon has destroyed a Mon County home.
According to firefighters, when they arrived on scene about two-thirds of the Fairmont Road home was up in flames.  No one was home at the time, and no one was hurt.
The homeowner said that she was at a neighbor's house when she heard a loud pop and realized that her home was on fire.  She also told 5 News that the fire appeared to have started in her child's room, but officials couldn't confirm that.
The fire started shortly before 1:00 Tuesday afternoon.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.  The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in due to the amount of damage.
Crews from Mon and Marion Counties responded to the fire.
