This year's Christmas parade in Morgantown was in honor of our heroes. It was a rainy Friday, but that didn't seem to hinder too many people from checking it out.
Kids were jumping up and down for candy, and Santa made his appearance on the ladder of a fire truck. The Morgantown High School Marching Band was showing off their skills, and they'll be heading to the Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1st.
One of our veterans, Jamie Summerlin, ran across the country this year to raise money for veterans. He's now focusing his efforts on "Camos to Cap" which supports veterans who want to complete their higher education goals.
"It's been a life changing event for me, and it's been just incredible to see they response that we've received not only from the communities, but the veterans themselves - the people that I stepped off to do the run for. And what a great way to finish the year here with a Christmas parade honoring our heroes, getting a chance to say 'thank you' one more time," explained Summerlin.
The parade is one of the largest to take place in the area.
