Morgantown Police Department NEWS RELEASE May 9, 2013 “Juvenile with Firearm Arrested at School”
Just prior to 12:00 noon on May 9, 2013, a student at Morgantown High School (MHS) reported to School Administrators and the School Resource Officer that another student had a handgun at the school.
Officers of the Morgantown Police Department responded to MHS in response to the reported threat. The School Resource Officer and School Staff began searching for the suspected juvenile and he was located near the bleachers of the Football Field. Officers were able to approach the juvenile and he was taken into custody without incident. A Large Caliber handgun was found on the juvenile’s person. A check of the firearm revealed that it was reported stolen to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office.
The juvenile is a student at MHS but has also been reported as a runaway. He is currently in custody pending a juvenile hearing. This case is still pending investigation.
