It's been almost a year since the parents of murdered 16-year-old Skylar Neese have seen their daughter.

On Monday Dave and Mary Neese learned they're one step closer to getting to say goodbye to their only child. That's because a deal has been struck to bring her remains back to the Mountain State.

According to court documents Neese was brutally murdered last July and dumped on a back road in Greene County Pennsylvania.

It wasn't until January until police found Skylar's body. Since that time Neese's parents have played the waiting game to see their daughter.

Dave told 5 News that he got a call from the Greene County Coroner's office on Friday. He said during that call he asked to see his daughter for five minutes, but was reportedly denied that chance.

Neese had planned a protest outside of the coroner's office on Monday, but called that off when he got word a deal had been reached to return Syklar's remains to the State Police barracks in Morgantown.

Dave said the decision is a small relief, but mentioned he's not sure how he'll react when he sees his little girl.

"I don't know what's going to happen," he said. "I don't know if we're (Dave and his wife) both going to break down and cry, or if we'll both have a happy moment. I don't know what that's going to bring."

16 year-old Rachel Shoaf, one of Skylar's best friends has already pleaded guilty to Second Degree murder in the case. Another teenage girl has also been arrested, but she hasn't been identified.
