Notre Dame High School and Saint Mary's Grade School honored their distinguished alumni at their 11th annual Irish legends gala at Via Veneto Restaurant in Harrison County Saturday evening.

People described the Irish legends as a hall of fame for Notre Dame and Saint Mary's.

Honored this year were Genevive Cunningham, Anthony Ellis, Edith Shigley, Sam Cann, Sam Scolapio, and Sam and Shirlene Isabella. Distinguished Young Alumni awards went to Justin, Brandon, and Evan Kupec.

"We honor people who have contributed significantly to the schools and/or the community," said Ian McAra, Advancement Director at Notre Dame High School. "2 or 3 years ago we also introduced a Distinguished Young Alumni award to start recognizing some of our younger alumni who achieved well in life."

Also celebrated this evening was the hundredth anniversary of the opening of Saint Mary's Grade School.
