These are five things that caught your attention during the week of July 18th on social media. Let's start off with some hard-hitting international news.
A Malaysian jetliner was shot down over Ukraine. Almost 300 people were aboard. Many of you were saddened by the tragic news. Some celebrities, like actor Jason Biggs, even got in hot water for making jokes about the incident.
Now moving along to some lighter news, one woman is celebrating accomplishing something no other woman has done yet. Kacy Cantanzaro is the first woman to finish  the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course. The 24-year-old,  5' gymnast earned respect across the web for this accomplishment.
There's another woman who was a top search this week, but for another reason. Former reality star Bethenny Frankel earned some criticism across the web after posting herself wearing her four year old's pajamas. Many of you tweeted about how you were thought this might send a mixed message about body image.
Lastly, let's transition to sports. The 22nd annual ESPYs was earlier this week, paying tribute to the best athletes in the game. One of them was Derek Jeter, who will be retiring from baseball when the season's over.
That wraps up Now Trending. Catch next week's edition with five new topics.
