PARKERBURG, W.Va. (AP) - Tobacco products are no longer allowed in Parkersburg's city playgrounds.
Media outlets report that City Council voted Tuesday to prohibit the use of all tobacco products within 15 feet of a city playground. Violators could face up a $500 fine.
The council rejected an amendment by Councilman Roger Brown to install benches and ashtrays at city playgrounds. He says that would solve the city's tobacco litter issue.
Brown was one of three council members who voted against the tobacco ban resolution.
