PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A veterans museum official says bicycles and skateboards are the suspected cause of damage to a memorial in Parkersburg's City Park.
Veterans Museum of the Mid-Ohio Valley founder and director Gary Farris says more than 50 of the Stepping Stones of Honor Veterans Memorial's bricks are chipped and cracked. He tells the Parkersburg News and Sentinel that the memorial also is covered with black marks.
Farris says repairing the damage could cost more than $1,000.
He says the damage occurred during the weeks leading up to, and during Fourth of July celebrations at the park.
