Firefighters battled flames inside a Clarksburg home, Tuesday night.

It started around 6:30 p.m. on Ashcraft Court. According to investigators, one person was able to escape the home and firefighters were even able to save two cats that were inside.

It took crews about twenty minutes to get the fire out and the damage was restricted to one room in the home.

Investigators said a failed extension cord in a cluttered room was the culprit.
