Pets and their owners got to enjoy themselves Saturday morning at the 15th annual New Leash on Life event in Bridgeport.

Dozens of people were there with their furry friends to enjoy a walk around  Bridgeport City Park. There were even contests, like owner/dog look-alike and best all around dog.

5 New's very own Nate Smail and Matt Heckel were judges for those contests. Rabies shots and other vaccines were also offered at a low cost during this event.

There were games for the pets, and even a nail trimming booth was there. Participants said the rain wasn't going to stop them from enjoying the day.

Participant Paul Kinder said, "It's an opportunity to see a lot of interesting dogs. It's a great cause. We're animal lovers. We let our dog have a chance to meet other dogs."

Not only is it a great time for pets, it's the one of the biggest fundraisers for the Humane Society.
