A man wanted on attempted murder charges for threatening his family with an ax in Tyler County was caught in Shinnston early Tuesday morning.

Tyler County Sheriff's deputies say 32-year-old Howard Shriver violated a domestic protection order  and used an ax to break into his the home where his wife and two kids were just after midnight. The daughter escaped and when his wife and a young boy tried to do the same in a car, Shriver supposedly started attacking them with the ax. The car wouldn't start and the two ran into a nearby field.
Police in Tyler, Doddridge, Harrison and Marion counties looked for him until Shinnston Police stopped him just before 2:00 a.m. He's facing charges in both Harrison and Tyler counties.
