About a month after commissioners in Preston County decided to fire the director of the county's animal shelter, they've decided to close the shelter for the rest of the month.
Last month Courtney Austin, the former manager of the shelter, was fired early last month when she apparently refused to hand over control of the site's Facebook page.
The decision to close the shelter until April 1st was announced after commissioners held an emergency meeting regarding the shelter's status Monday morning. That's when they said they need some time to reorganize and take a closer look it's finances.
Commission President, Craig Jennings said there seems to be a significant difference between the number of reported adoptions and the money collected for them.
Jennings mentioned they hope to have things organized and back on track by the time they open again.
