A public forum was held Tuesday with local delegates, state senators and others to discuss "Clean Elections." They're talking about candidates running for office not accepting money from private interests.

People need to have confidence in their government. That's what Senate President Jeffrey Kessler had to say about it. He especially wants to see this happen in judicial elections. After seeing once candidate who won, voluntarily use the Pilot Project in the most recent Supreme Court election, he thinks it's worthwhile.

The program provides full public financing to candidates.

"No law is ever perfect and sometimes that's why you have a pilot project for trial and error and the good parts of the system that work we would hope to continue to implement and any shortcomings or things that we can improve, we can make the law better as well," said Senate President Kessler.

The project expires in July but many who attended would like to see if made mandatory across the board.
