Here on 5 News, we tell you about the accomplishments of our young athletes. Now, one local cheerleading squad in Harrison County has made their mark on the state, when they took their second state title.

They were obviously very excited about it, and their coach said their constant work and motivation is how Robert C. Byrd High School's cheerleading squad has been blessed with another state title.

5 News caught up with the Eagle squad before they left for a game in Charleston on Saturday, and they said they couldn't be happier taking their second state championship, and it didn't come easy.

They practice 6 days a week, which keeps them pretty busy.

Coach Thomason said it's something these girls can take on and remember for the rest of their lives.

"It was an amazing feeling, and I'm sure its something other schools would like to accomplish. This is something these girls can take with you for the rest of their lives," said Coach Karen Thomason, Robert C. Byrd cheerleading coach.

This is coach Thomason's third year as coach at RCB, and she said it feels great to see these girls achieve such an accomplishment.
