After Monday's events in Boston security officials all over the world have announced they're stepping up security at events.  However, it looks like a half marathon scheduled for this weekend in Preston County will go on as scheduled.

The Big Bear Lake Half Marathon is set to kick off on Saturday morning in Bruceton Mills.

Heather Parks is the organizer of the event and said what happened in Boston was terrible. Parks has previously run in the Boston Marathon.

Parks told 5 News she only expects to have about 50 people at her race. She said they'll have security on hand and everything will go on as normal.

"The bottom is life has to go on," Parks said. "We have to run to honor those who were hurt and killed."
