Randolph BOE Considering Six Interim Superintendent Candidates

On Monday, the Randolph County Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. James Phares.

Tuesday, they met to talk about appointing an interim superintendent. Board members met to talk about who will replace Phares in January, but that discussion took place behind closed doors.

The board went into executive session as soon as the meeting started, but members said they're considering six candidates.

They plan to appoint an interim superintendent at a special meeting on December 26th.

Whoever takes over will be in the position from January 1st to June 30th, while the board looks for Phares' replacement.

This all comes after Phares was hired last week to become the state superintendent, while the W.Va. BOE conducts a nationwide search for a permanent replacement.

He's taking over for Jorea Marple, who was suddenly fired in November.
