People in Upshur County took advantage of a beautiful summer night, to take the advantage on fighting cancer.
A Relay for Life event was held at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School to help raise money for the American Cancer Society. The event started at 5 p.m. Friday and will end at 5 a.m. Saturday. There were a tons of fun things to do at Friday evening's event, especially for kids, but the main reason for the event was to spread the word on cancer and how it can affect you.
"It's personal for almost everybody in here because cancer touches so many people. It's going to touch one in three people within their lifetime. They're going to know somebody who has cancer or be affected in someway," said Bobby Stell, Relay For Life Upshur County Co-Chair.
This is the events 16th year in Upshur county and 100th anniversary nationally.
