(CBS NEWS) NELSON COUNTY, Va. - A search is underway for a missing Waynesboro, Va. police captain who was last seen Friday night and authorities say they have obtained pictures which cause them to be “gravely concerned” about the man’s safety, reports CBS affiliate WTVR.
Kevin Quick, a captain with the Waynesboro Police Department’s Police Reserve Unit, was reported missing Saturday by his family.
The 45-year-old Quick, of Nelson County, was last seen Friday at 10:15 p.m., when he left his mother’s residence in Afton, according to the station. He was reportedly headed to a friend’s home at Turtle Creek Apartments in Albemarle County, about 20 miles away, but he never arrived.
During the course of the investigation, authorities obtained surveillance photos which show two men believed to have information about Quick’s disappearance, reports WTVR.
Quick’s silver 1999 Toyota Forerunner, with Virginia license plate 614-068 with the seal of the Commonwealth in the middle, is also seen in the photos, which were captured in Fork Union on Friday and Manassas on Saturday.
Extensive ground and air searches took place Saturday night and Sunday morning, according to the station.
Quick is described as a white male, six feet one inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes and medium build. He wears contacts or glasses and has a scar above his left eye.
The Virginia State Police are leading the investigation into Quick’s disappearance.
Anyone with information that could help investigators in the case is asked to call (434)352-7128.
