Around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Fairmont crews rushed to put out an apartment fire on Field Street that was allegedly set by the woman who lives there.
Officials said the woman tried to start one fire in her kitchen Thursday morning, but that one was put out by her boyfriend. After he went to work, she started another fire in her bedroom. Crews were able to put that fire out quickly and the damage was contained to the back of the building.
The woman tried to stay in the apartment while the fire burned. She had to be taken to Fairmont General Hospital for treatment, but no one else was injured. The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating.
