Saturday marked the pinning ceremony for some nurses at Salem International University.
Graduates were honored in front of their friends and families as licensed practical nurses from Salem International University. The LPN coordinator, Cheryl Michaels, spoke about how important this day was for the eight graduates.
"These ladies have worked long and hard. They've put in many hour over the past twelve months. The LPN program is a very vigorous program."
Despite such a happy day for the LPN program at SIU, the registered nurse program has not been approved to continue. School officials are very confused after making many changes to the program since receiving a letter in February.
"We've asked for them to hold a special meeting for them to reconsider, and I look forward to their reply and look forward to working with them." said school President, John Luotto
The University hopes to have a special meeting with the board and get this issue resolved.
