Here on 5 News, we find it important to salute those who put their lives on the line everyday. Here in Harrison County, one man who gave the ultimate sacrifice had a bridge dedicated in his name.

The bridge on Saltwell Road that crosses Interstate 79 now known as the PO1 Kevin S. Rux Memorial Bridge. Rux was a member of the Navy, and back in 2000, he was killed aboard the U.S.S. Cole, when it was bombed by terrorists in Yemen.

5 News caught up with his mother, and former Navy Commander, and they say they're both honored to see the bridge named for a local hero.

"It's a reminder that there are veterans out there who dedicate their lives, and are killed or wounded," said James Parlier, former Navy Commander.

In all, officials hope this will serve as a remembrance for those who put their lives on the line every day.
