It's been almost four years since the Upper Big Branch Mine explosion took the lives of 29 people. On Monday, Don Blankenship, the Former Massey Energy CEO who many people blame for the disaster, released a documentary on the tragedy.
Senator Joe Manchin was featured in that film, but said he was misled about the intent and Blankenship's involvement. The film says the incident was a result of a natural gas explosion and not unsafe work conditions. Senator Manchin said that he along with the family members of those who were lost believe Blankenship is fully to blame.
"To have someone as deceitful as Don Blankenship who I believe and they believe is responsible for the loss of their loved ones to be able to use millions of dollars and try to put out a documentary which is just not true and not accurate or factual whatsoever. It's wrong," said Senator Manchin.
5 News reached out to Blankenship's office, but we haven't heard anything back.
