There's only one family grief center in the state and only five in the whole country. They don't charge grieving families for their counseling services, so a silent auction was held at the Waterfront Place Hotel on Saturday to support their cause.

This is the fifth year for the fundraiser, that raised about $14,000 last year.

More than 180 people came out to bid on items like quilts, golf trips, and hundreds of other prizes that were donated by local businesses and individuals.

The organizers said that this money helps support a unique need in the area.

President for the Board of Directors said, "We help them to work through their grief, and as we help them, it's a fun time for them. It's not a sad time. The children are able to meet other people who've lost moms and dads. They realize they're not the only ones going through a difficult time."

They meet every Thursday at the Morgantown Church of Christ Building on Scott Street.
