Plastic surgeons and dermatologists are seeing more and more people who want their tattoos removed, often because of the worry that their tattoos could cause problems with their employment. Some said that they don't see the appeal of tattoos.
David Barry, a Monongalia County resident, said, "I knew people that would get them as means of tribute to like, their parents or something, but I had always felt that I loved my parents just as much as they did, but I didn't need to tell anyone with a tattoo."
Others said that tattoos are a great way to express yourself and admire them.
WVU Student Tyler Milton said, "I think they're pretty interesting. I like looking at other people's artwork on their body and I've always been a fan of them, ever since I was little."
For those that regret their tattoo choice, the most common and effective way to get rid of them is through laser treatments. One tattoo artist we spoke with said picking out a tattoo that a person will be happy with is a process that should be thought out carefully.
Josh Floquet, a local tattoo artist, said, "Just as much as the person getting the tattoo is responsible for picking out something they'll be happy with for the rest of their life, the shop is also responsible for trying to push them in the right direction."
Don't forget to be cautious when picking a place to get inked because a tattoo done incorrectly can cause skin problems.
