Despite the cold temperatures and the snow falling down in Buckhannon on Saturday, some folks there braved that weather for the the second annual Light Up Jawbone Park.

Folks in the community got their first taste of Christmas when they had the countdown to the tree lighting ceremony. There was also food, music, and the kids were handing out with Santa. The Upshur County CVB and a volunteer group called Create Buckhannon, helped put on the event. They said this was all about having an event where people could come and talk with each other and bring the community together.

Director of the Upshur County CVB, Laura Meadows said, "It's a chance to get out of your normal routine and see people you don't always see and be proud of your community and see the progress that this specific park has seen. You know, Jawbone Park has had tons of development and construction and events that are held here. It's a really nice asset to see."

They guessed about 20 to 30 people came out on Saturday, which is about the same as last year.
