After five years of planning, the Tygart Valley Child Advocacy Center has finally opens its doors.
It's their mission at the CAC to help children who have been physically or sexually abused. This center is a collaboration between Taylor, Preston, and Barbour counties. In the past, children would have to travel between Mon, Marion, or even Randolph counties just to be interviewed.
The CAC hopes that this new facility gives children a safe environment to talk about their feelings, and what's happened in their lives.
"The CAC prevents multiple interviews. This way the child can come here, where its a homey atmosphere, a child friendly center with caring people, who care about them, and they can tell us so we can figure out a way to help them." Walesca Marrero, Director for the Family Resource Network.
The Tygart Valley CAC is inviting the community to come down and take a tour of the new facility.
