UPDATE: 911 Dispatcher Dies In Crash

UPDATE (5/2):

A 911 dispatcher in Preston County died after an early morning crash on Thursday.

According to the Preston County Sheriff's Department, 58-year-old Lewis Brown was the man in the car that crashed near the intersection of Whetsell Settlement Road and Veterans Memorial Highway. He was pronounced dead on scene.

A post on the official Preston County 911 Facebook page reads, "He served the citizens of Preston County unselfishly, sacrificing personal time to ensure the safe keeping of others."

Brown was the only man involved in the accident.

ORIGINAL STORY:

One man has died after an accident in Preston County early Thursday morning.

A 58-year old man was driving along Route 7 at around 3:30 a.m. when he ran off the roadway and over an embankment. The car overturned and came to a stop near the intersection of Whetsell Settlement Road and Veterans Memorial Highway.

The driver was the only one in the car at the time. He was pronounced dead on scene. His name has not yet been released.

The Preston County Sheriff's Department is in charge of the investigation.
