The oil and gas industry is booming. To help accommodate some of that increase representatives, from different areas came to the United Technical Center Wednesday to talk to students about the job possibilities in this field.
The four largest industries are right in your backyard. The two closest to you are in Harrison and Doddridge counties. The major thing workers stressed was having a good work ethic and most importantly being drug free. With all the heavy machinery used, they have a zero tolerance policy. One man said how great of an opportunity working in this field is.
"The good news for them is these are some of the highest paid jobs in the state, number one. Number two, historically a lot of West Virginians had to leave the state after they graduated high school or college to find employment. Now it's here," said Dennis Xander, President of Independent Oil & Gas Association.
