Thursday morning officials from the United way made a big announcement. Not only did they reach their goal this year, they actually exceeded it.
They made $840,000 which is $5,000 over what they were aiming for. Last year they made $10,000 more, but volunteers said every year is unique and has their own challenges. They said they're happy with how this past year turned out.
Now that they met their goal, what's next?
"Believe it or not, we start over. The grants committee is forming. The agencies have to reapply every year for funding, so they're getting their applications in now. We go to the annual dinner tonight and we celebrate and have some fun and then we start over tomorrow," said Melanie Chancey, 2014 Campaign Chair.
Chancey said it just never ends, we just keep evolving and all United Way officials want to thank everyone who helped them throughout this past year.
