"It's hard to believe a year's gone by," said the campaign chair of the Harrison County United Way on Thursday.
Their annual dinner marking the end to the 2013 campaign was held at the Bridgeport Conference Center. Members recognized the donors, volunteers, employees and the 22 agencies the United Way supports.
Their goal of $830,000 was exceeded. They managed to bring in $850,000. Members thanked the community for their continued support.
"I got out to visit these agencies, which I had never done in the past, and it's very heartwarming the work they do. But then it tears your heart out when you see how many people in the community really rely on the work that they do, which just made me motivated to make sure this campaign was successful," said Jeff Barger, the campaign chair.
Among a few other items, there was a 2012 WVU football up for grabs in a silent auction signed by the entire team.
