An officer at the VA Medical Center was given a very special award. Bryan Hunt was awarded the Patrol Officer of the Year for 2012, which is a great honor to have right here in the mountain state.

Officers from across the country are in the running, but only the most outstanding gets recognized. Hunt said he's grateful for this honor.

"I was pretty shocked. I've never had such an award of that magnitude before, so I was fairly speechless. It just drives me to continue to do what I've been doing because apparently I've been doing it right. So I'm just going to keep doing it," said Hunt.

Hunt's chief nominated him for the award and couldn't be happier that he got it.

"Office Hunt is a high-level performer. He does a lot of work and he does it all well. I have a good staff, they do good work. But Officer Hunt was able to excel," said Chief Scott Engel.

Officers at the VA Medical Center said it shows the world how hardworking VA Officers are.
